Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after March of that year.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He saved four initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
